Ride The Classic

A unique leisure cycling sportive, taking you through the beautiful country lanes and bogs of East Galway. A combination of off-road sectors on bog roads, farm tracks, boreens, country lanes and bog make up about 25% of the route

Galway Gravel Grinder

BORN OUT OF THE RUGGED WEST OF IRELAND, THE GALWAY BAY CYCLING CLUB IS PLEASED TO INTRODUCE THE GALWAY GRAVEL GRINDER!

For the last few years, a few passionate souls have canvassed the beautiful off-road gems around the Galway Wind Park in County Galway. That passion, along with a devious wink and nod to our cousin—the Galway Classic—has culminated in a cycling adventure so unique it can only be described as “Gravel Craic.”

What is Gravel Craic? It’s a little bit of everything Ireland has to offer for a truly unique gravel cycling adventure. Forest roads. Farm roads. Boreen roads. Single track. And a whole bunch of good ‘ole gravel!

You’ll start the Galway Gravel Grinder in the gorgeous village of Moycullen where a gentle, neutral rolling start will quickly give way to a classics-like introduction to Irish boreen and gravel sectors.

After a few kilometers of classics style terrain, the route turns into the Galway Wind Park where gravel roads, fun climbs and the gorgeous terrain and views of Connemara await.

WLAC

Held in April, the Western Lakes and Atlantic Challenge (WLAC) is a fun and challenging sportive cycling event with two distances to choose from. A long 160k cycle for the endurance athlete, takes the cyclists through Connemara, and is the perfect goal for anyone who wants to get a long cycle done early in the year to set themselves up for a summer of racing, triathlon or recreational cycling. We pride ourselves on the fact that many novices who take on this cycle are taking on the longest distance they have ever completed. They are able to do it because they are well looked after by our team.
